More Bath Pictures
August 26th, 2010Classes started yesterday….
August 26th, 2010I’m taking two this semester: History of American Landscapes and Architecture, and Principles and Practice of Historic Preservation.
In my American Landscapes class, I’ll be introducing the Prairie Style to the class. I picked that topic because the design of our house exhibits a few simple nods toward common elements of that type, such as
- a low-pitched, hipped roof (gable-on-hip in our case),
- wide, straight eves,
- a low, horizontal aspect,
- banded windows,
- entry portico with unadorned colomns of masonry or wood (wood),
- and open interior spaces.
Obviously, our house is no architectural marvel and is pretty plain all around, but I think the Prairie Style must have appealed to whoever originally picked out the plans.
Bathroom Plans
August 26th, 2010Since I have some time, here are some pics of our original baths and their plumbing. At the end of the images, I’m uploading the plans I sketched for phase 1 of the remodel.
Bathroom Work
August 26th, 2010We blazed ahead once again, and now the bathrooms are well over have way to being done. Brooklynne’s dad flew into town and knocked out the task of replumbing the drains, and after a short lesson, Brooklynne became a master pex installer.
So since I have been slack in getting pictures off the camera, here is a little graphic of our progress….
Now we are past the destruction phase of the bathroom rennovations and we are onto the recreation/finishing phase. I expect that by the end of the weekend, we will be back in the 0.5 range of functional bathrooms, and we’ll have 1.5 by the end of the Labor Day weekend. Maybe I can talk Brooklynne into helping add some images of our work.
Picture catch up
August 5th, 2010I did not anticipate how hard it would be to go to work for 9 hours, come home and work on the house for 2 or 3 more hours, and then come home and feel like getting on the computer and posting pictures. So my apologies for not keeping up with this more. Here is a picture of the trees we were trimming, and the before and after pics of the closet we are taking out in the bathroom.
